Gill and Doreen attended the Council Meeting in Kendal.
Following the business, which included Gill being presented with a certificate for 30 years' membership, the morning concluded with an extremely interesting presentation by the Royal Navy which highlighted all the different ways in which they are deployed in the UK and around the world.
In the afternoon, Judith Hibbert entertained the audience by acting and singing songs from the past, as a tribute to Julie Andrews, Joyce Grenfell, Victoria Wood and Gracie Fields.
14 of us went to Tulchan on Thursday 13th October for a Warm/Cool workshop. Karen gave us a Style Personality to fill in so that we could discover which way we dressed.
We were divided by our hair colour and eye colour into warm, cool, light, deep, bright or soft and Karen explained how we could complement our colour, make sure we flattered our body shape, looked current yet be appropriate to our age. We will all be thinking more carefully when we buy clothes and
decide what to wear for the day!
As always, Karen entertained us and we had a fun afternoon. Some retail therapy followed in the shop afterwards!
On Wednesday 12th October, Gill, Doreen, Marjorie and Jane went to Endmoor Village Hall. After a very enjoyable lunch of soup and tray bake, they listened to Dame Sue Ion talk about her time in the nuclear industry, the future of nuclear power stations in the UK and, most importantly, what the power industry needs to do, and the energy it must produce, in order to keep the lights on. It was a fascinating and far reaching talk and she dealt brilliantly with all the questions that were put to her.
